Terms of Use

By installing or using Mizan (“the app”), you agree to the terms below. Mizan is provided free of charge by Shinka (“we”, “us”). If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use the app.

License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Mizan on Apple devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use. You may not redistribute, resell, reverse-engineer, or use the app to build a competing product.

Religious accuracy

Mizan's prayer times are calculated using widely-accepted astronomical methods (MWL, ISNA, Egyptian, Diyanet, and others). The Qibla direction is computed from your device's location using standard great-circle math against the coordinates of the Kaaba. These calculations are accurate within reasonable limits but are not infallible. For matters of religious obligation, consult your local mosque, imam, or scholarly authority.

Third-party content

Mizan includes or references content from the following sources, with gratitude:

• Quran Arabic text, Uthmani Hafs reading. Public domain.
• English translation, Saheeh International. Used under their standard non-commercial distribution allowance. © Saheeh International. All rights to the translation belong to Saheeh International.
• Turkish translation, Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı (Türkiye Cumhuriyeti). Public meal used for non-commercial educational purposes.
• Recitation audio, streamed and optionally downloaded from everyayah.com, a free public Quran-audio archive. Audio rights belong to the individual reciters and their publishers.
• Translation API fallback , non-bundled translations are fetched once from alquran.cloud and cached locally.

No warranty

Mizan is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, accuracy, or non-infringement. We don't guarantee the app is bug-free, available without interruption, or that all features will work on every device.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) Mizan. This includes missed prayers, missed appointments, missed flights, anything. Mizan is a helper, not a guarantor.

Changes

We may update these terms over time as Mizan evolves. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes that can't be resolved by friendly conversation go to the courts of Ontario.
