Got a problem, an idea, or a verse that looks wrong? You're in the right place.
Mizan is a free, ad-free Muslim companion app, prayer times, a Qibla compass, the full Quran with bundled English and Turkish translations, eight reciters, a Hijri calendar, and a thoughtful memorization mode. Built for iOS 17 and up.
Make sure Mizan has location permission (Settings → Privacy → Location → Mizan), then check the calculation method in the app's settings. Different communities use different methods (MWL, ISNA, Egyptian, Diyanet, etc.), pick the one your local mosque follows.
The iPhone's magnetometer is sensitive to metal and electronics. Step away from your laptop, your car, your bedframe, anything magnetic. Calibrate by moving the phone in a figure-8. Mizan's compass has a magnetic-vs-true-north toggle if you prefer the geographic reading.
Recitation streams from a public CDN (everyayah.com). If your network is slow, tap the reciter title in the audio bar, hit Manage, and download the whole reciter for offline playback. Once downloaded, playback is instant and works in airplane mode.
Long surahs (like Al-Baqarah) trigger more work on first open. Subsequent opens of the same surah are instant because Mizan caches the rendered text in memory. If lag persists, turn off the harakat-tinting toggle in Reader settings, it walks every Arabic glyph and is the heaviest visual feature.
Mizan bundles Saheeh International (English) and Diyanet İşleri (Turkish). Both are well-respected translations but no translation is perfect. If you spot a mismatch with the Arabic, send a note to the address below with the surah and ayah number, it helps everyone.
The fastest path is TestFlight's Send Beta Feedback button, it includes a screenshot and your build number automatically. You can also email directly: shinkayoubi@gmail.com. Expect a reply within a few days.
